I am profoundly proud and quite humbled to be one of many instructors at the Institute of Children’s Literature. I never would have known that by being a children’s writer, I would qualify for such a position. Yet, it is just another way for a writer to make an income at doing something she loves!

I took the course, Writing for Children and Teens when I was living in Japan in 1992. I learned so much not only about the process of writing for children but also how to market myself and my writing. This course in invaluable. As a student you work one on one with an instructor. Every instructor is well published and actively involved in the children’s writing industry. You basically get first hand experience!

The Connecticut Board for State Academic Awards recommends that students who complete our course be awarded six college credits. No matter where you live, these credits may be obtained from Charter Oak State College, which functions under the degree-granting authority of the Connecticut Board. You can have these credits submitted on a Charter Oak transcript to any college or university. (If you are a teacher, your transcript will be sent to your school board, at your request.) Full information is available from the Institute of Children's Literature Registrar to help you take advantage of this opportunity.

Why this course works? Because it has proven time and again that with hard work and a deep desire to write for children, you can be successful. Thousands of students have graduated, many of them are children’s writers today! You have the flexibility of working out of your home and in your own time. What can be better than that?
