When Jennifer was in second grade, her teacher asked her what she would like to be when she grew up. "A writer!" And so the journey began with school papers, a staff writing position on her high school newspaper, and odd writing jobs for various newspapers. Her husband was a Navy fighter pilot for twelve years so she has a special place in her heart for the U.S. military. She also was the editor of the US Navy's newspaper, The Skywriter, at NAF Atsugi, Japan. Soon her love turned to writing for children and young adults.

Jennifer has a Master's degree in writing from Vermont College of Fine Art. She was the creator and editor of the first online children's magazine, Wee Ones and taught Writing for Children and Teens with the Institute of Children's Literature. Jennifer lives in Vermont where she continues to write for children and Chicken Soup books. She also runs a guest house (great writer's retreat!) on her property. Inspiration comes not only from her own childhood experiences and those of her children, who are both grown, but from the awesome Adirondack Mountain and Lake Champlain views right from her front yard!
